Reflections from the Nigeria – Benin Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network Learning Exchange

The Scaling Up Nutrition Business Network (SBN) is expanding its impact across West Africa by fostering cross-country collaboration and knowledge-sharing. In response to a request from the Benin SUN Focal Point following the 2022 Joint Annual Assessment (JAA), the establishment of SBN Benin was initiated with support from the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and CARE through the CASCADE programme.

The CASCADE programme aims to improve food security and reduce malnutrition among 5 million women of reproductive age and children under five across six countries: Benin, Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Mozambique.

As part of the establishment process, SBN Benin began with:

  • Developing a strategic plan (2024–2030) to guide implementation.
  • Mapping potential members and partners to ensure inclusive private sector engagement.
  • Leveraging lessons learned from SBN Nigeria to shape approaches for business mobilization, advocacy, and nutrition-focused enterprise support.

This Nigeria–Benin learning exchange underscores the importance of regional cooperation in accelerating nutrition-sensitive business solutions, strengthening food systems, and scaling up sustainable approaches to fight malnutrition.
